Protecting Malabar Pythons & Reptile Diversity

Challenges Faced by Malabar Pythons and Other Reptiles

Habitat Loss

The ever-expanding human footprint and deforestation are destroying critical reptile habitats, disrupting breeding grounds and food sources.

Poaching and Illegal Wildlife Trade

Malabar pythons are sometimes targeted for their skins, used in the exotic leather trade. This illegal activity threatens their population stability.

Human-Wildlife Conflict

Fear and misunderstanding can lead to the persecution of reptiles, even those like the Malabar python that pose no direct threat to humans.

Pugmark's Commitment to Reptile Conservation

At Pugmark, we recognize the importance of protecting all creatures, big and small. Here's how we're working to ensure a future for Malabar pythons and other reptiles

Habitat Protection and Restoration

We advocate for the preservation of existing reptile habitats and support efforts to restore degraded forests, providing essential shelter and resources for these animals.

Education & Awareness Programs

Our dedicated team works to educate local communities about the ecological significance of reptiles, dispelling myths and promoting peaceful coexistence.

Research and Monitoring

We support research initiatives to better understand reptile populations, their ecological roles, and the threats they face. This knowledge is crucial for informing effective conservation strategies.

Rescue and Rehabilitation

When encountering injured or displaced reptiles, Pugmark actively participates in their rescue and rehabilitation. We provide them with proper care until they can be safely released back into their natural habitat.

Challenges Faced by Barn Owls and Other Endangered Birds

Pugmark recognizes the importance of safeguarding Asian elephants for the well-being of both the ecosystem and local communities. Here's how we're working towards creating a future of harmonious coexistence in Wayanad:

Together, We Can Ensure Their Survival

Malabar pythons and other reptiles are essential components of a healthy ecosystem. They control rodent populations, disperse seeds, and contribute to the overall biodiversity of the Western Ghats. By supporting Pugmark's efforts, you can help us safeguard these fascinating creatures and the vital role they play in our natural world.
