Focus Species

The Majestic Bengal Tiger

Project Tiger has undoubtedly been a success story for Bengal tigers in India. However, in Wayanad, a landscape interwoven with forests and human settlements, tigers dispersing from neighboring reserves have caused some concern among local residents. This has led to an increase in anti-wildlife sentiment.

The Wise Asian Elephant

Asian elephants, majestic giants with gentle souls, are an integral part of the Western Ghats ecosystem. Their presence plays a crucial role in maintaining forest health and biodiversity. Sadly, these magnificent creatures face increasing threats due to habitat loss and human-elephant conflict.

Protecting Barn Owls and Other Endangered Birds

The barn owl, with its heart-shaped face and silent flight, is a vital guardian of our ecosystem. These incredible birds act as natural pest control, keeping rodent populations in check. However, for several decades, barn owl numbers have been alarmingly low due to various threats.

Protecting Malabar Pythons and Reptile Diversity

The dense forests of the Western Ghats are home to a fascinating array of reptiles, each playing a vital role in the ecosystem's health. Among these remarkable creatures is the Malabar python, a non-venomous constrictor snake endemic to the region.
